About Us

Taproot Theatre Company was founded in 1976 by six college graduates from Seattle Pacific University. From its humble beginnings as a touring group, the company has now become one of Seattle’s largest mid-size theatre companies. Today, Taproot Theatre serves over 100,000 people annually throughout the Pacific Northwest with a full Mainstage season, touring programs, and Acting Studio.

From I-5 (north or southbound): Take the North 85th Street exit and go west on North 85th for about two miles, crossing Aurora Avenue and Greenwood Ave. The theatre is 1/2 block west of Greenwood Ave.

Parking is limited in the area around Taproot Theatre. We ask that patrons not park in lots designated for neighboring businesses. The exception is Fred Meyer who has agreed to allow Taproot patrons to use parking stalls at the south end of their lot bordering 85th. There is also a pay lot on 85th behind WaMu.

Artistic Opportunities

Actors
Mainstage: Taproot Theatre attends Theatre Puget Sound (TPS) auditions in January and June. For more information about TPS, check out their website at www.tpsonline.org. Actors can send headshots and resumes to Karen Lund, Associate Artistic Director, TTC, P.O. Box 30946, Seattle, WA 98113-0946. Additional auditions may be scheduled.
Road Company: Auditions are held in the spring in Seattle and at national conferences, with casting completed by early summer. Road Company applicants have additional interviews and must submit references. Actors should submit a resume and headshot to Karen Lund, Associate Artistic Director, TTC, P.O. Box 30946, Seattle, WA 98113-0946.

Designers & Technicians
All designers and technicians should submit a letter of introduction, resume and references. As needed, TTC's production staff will schedule interviews with designers to review their portfolio and discuss the needs of the coming season. Send resumes to Mark Lund, TTC, P.O. Internships
TTC accepts a small number of interns in all areas. Selection is based on the person's career goals, professionalism, recommendations from professors/teachers and availability of a suitable mentor within TTC's staff. Playwrights
Due to a change in policy, we will not be accepting unsolicited material at this time.

Scripts

Taproot Theatre has a selection of original scripts available for purchase. In order to perform a script, you must first obtain permission from Taproot. To apply, contact Karen Lund at (206) 781-9705.

Royalties must be paid for all performances. The royalties listed on the script sheet include cost for the first performance/each additional performance. Sheet music is available to any organization producing our musicals. Rental of the score is included in the royalty charge. All scores must be returned to TTC upon final performance.
